| Star Hotels had a vision to develop the first new hotel in more than ten years on Route One in College Park. The area and the site presented many challenges due to the surrounding environment, building size restrictions and rejection by potential franchisers like Hampton Inn. These challenges did not deter Star Hotels from taking risks and pushing for it's vision to come to fruition. Upon its completion, the new Hampton Inn became the cornerstone of development along Route One. A new shopping center went in along with a new and improved entrance to College Park. This hotel directly and indirectly provided many new jobs and increased thousands of dollars per year in sales/property/payroll taxes by becoming a catalyst for change setting higher bar for the surrounding businesses.
The hotel was completed in 10 months within the budget.
