Star Hotel Management Division

Star Hotel Management Division presently owns and manages four hotels comprising of over 360 rooms. its management team has experience in operating and working with diverse hotel companies such as Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Omni, Starwood, Intercontinental Hotels Group, and Cendent.

The Management team has expertise in revenue management, sales and marketing, guest relations,
associate relations, human resources, and hotel operations. Our hotels management teams works with and become a part of the communities that they are serving. Our Sales and Marketing team consist of members who have over 20 years of experience in selling brands such as Accor, Carlson WagonLit, Cendent, Hilton, IHG, Marriott, Starwood, and Omni. The sales team has expertise in marketing a diverse set of brands and markets, with experience in revenue management.


Hotel Management Approach

Star Hotels’ management approach is to empower the hotels to mange all the activities and functions associated with the customer service, revenue management and franchise communication.

The corporate office provides support and oversight for the above mentioned activities/functions and for all secondary functions such as purchasing, human resource etc.

This approach allows the hotel staff to focus on the customer service and revenue management. The following are some of the corporate level functions:


(A) Operations:

  • Over all Hotels Management under VP-Operation
  • Regular inspections of the hotel performed by Vice President and Director of Operations
  • Annual strategic “Business Plan” direction to include: Marketing Plans, Budget & Cash Projections, and Capitol Improvement Plans
  • Continuous evaluation and rating of  key personal performance through use of “Star Performance Evaluation “ process
  • Utilization of Star Property Performance Evaluation to monitor all areas of the hotel to ensure customer service, quality of products and profitability
  • Ongoing General Manager and key department head meetings to ensure direction and continuous improvement
  • Regular communication and personal relationships with key franchise personnel
  • Communications with owner and/or personal representatives to ensure that all requests by Owners for financing, partnership issues, and personal items are fulfilled.
  • Regular inspections of the hotel performed by Vice President and Director of Operations

  • Communications with owner and/or personal representatives to ensure that all requests by Owners for financing, partnership issues, and personal items are fulfilled
  • Utilization of Corporate level support for major maintenance, emergencies, and staffing related issues daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annually detailed operating reports.

(B) Corporate Level Accounting:

  • Financial Statement production and analysis
  • Accounts Receivable and payable production
  • Payroll production, audit, and coordination of all federal and state returns
  • Regular audit of the property by Corporate Internal Auditor
  • Development and implementation of control systems
  • Preparation and monitoring of Cash Flow statements
  • Budget development, review and approval
  • In depth property level Cash Management process
  • All accounts departments supervised by Controller
  • Prepare and distribute all other reports requested by banks, owners or their representatives.

(C) Sales & Marketing:

  • Supervision of this area by Vice President of Operations
  • Guide development and implement of Marketing Plan
  • Arrange group advertising and marketing
  • Coordinate attendance at appropriate trade shows and share costs with participating hotels
  • Offer continued sales and marketing training at regular group sales meetings
  • Readily available are tools and systems for effective tracking and implementation of programs
  • Review and approve specific marketing strategies, programs, and print materials (brochures, ads, flyers, etc.)
  • Corporate review of monthly sales reports
  • Participation and membership in key sales related organizations; i.e., Travel Industry, Association, Ontario Motor coach Association, National Tour Association, local Chamber Of Commerce, County Tourism Boards
  • Extensive corporate data base for direct mail marketing
  • Produce press releases on an as needed basis
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, developing, and hiring of sales stuff

(D) Training:

  • Corporate level support on staff and available for guidance
  • Conduct various training to include, but not limited to: Customer Service, Diversity, Sexual Harassment, Employment Law & Labor Liability, ADA Awareness, and Safety & Security
  • Provide opportunities to employees to develop the skills necessary to become effective Supervisors. Topics covered are: You as a Supervisor, Time Management, Handling Problems & Conflict, Improving Employee Performance, and Motivation & Team Building
  • Implement formulized Orientation Program
  • Implement training checklist guide for the positions of front desk representative, room attendant, and basic maintenance engineer

(E) Human Resources:

  • HR Personal on staff and available for guidance
  • Benefits administration, including employee insurance purchasing and monitoring
  • Ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws
  • Survey employee for morale; Employee records maintenance
  • Handbook, policy and procedure development, and implementation
  • Training Resource: Provide proactive training and reactive counsel on employee issues
